Another successful year at the Techno Teachers Association Conference, demonstrating drawing and rendering techniques and materials, with Cregal Art Galway

This handmade dolls house had seen years of playing and happiness and was being restored to pass on to further generations of the original family. All materials used were non-toxic and durable.

This religious statue arrived with damage, fading and paint chipping, as well as parts of the plasterwork crumbling. Part of the commission was the request to make the colour more uniform and simple. The entire statue was cleaned, repainted, redecorated and resealed for a jubilee celebration in the church it belonged to.

These key rings were commissioned and handpainted individually, one for each room in the Co. Galway guesthouse St. Clerans.

Each one has the coat of arms of a Galway tribe, of which there are twelve in total, one for each guest room in the house. Above is the key for the Angelica suite, named after the actress Angelica Huston, whos father John Huston owned St Clerans during the mid 20th century. The Angelica suite was a seperate small building adjacent to the main house, so the artwork on this particular key was a miniature painting of that building.

Two keys were painted for each room, with each key measuring 4 x 4.5 inches.

Jenny has taught art in many different capacities ranging from children’s arts and crafts, youthwork, retirement art hobby groups, and adult painting and drawing, in both private classes and within schools.

Recent community art projects include a collaborative project with Galway City Comhairle na nÓg , producing an interactive art piece based on their chosen project theme of Homelessness in Galway city.
The project was built on a number of practical and idea-generating workshops, resulting in a large art piece featuring elements highlighting the problems and solutions relating to the topic of homelessness. The young people each produced their own individual artwork pieces which combined with the landscape background of a large Galway cityscape made for a very enjoyable and interesting project.
Jenny has been a featured artist and demonstrator at Techno Teachers National Conferences held in Galway county, most recently in October 2023. Representing Cregal Art, Galway, she has been invited to demonstrate and give talks about art materials and their technical uses for Tech Graphics and Woodwork teachers nationally.

The workshops included the use and demonstration of drawing materials such as pencils, markers and ink pens, while presenting drawing and rendering techniques useful for secondary school teachers as required by the Junior and Leaving Cert exam curriculum.
